나는 낯선 공간에 관심을 가진다. 공간은 항상 변화하고 있다. 무엇이 공간 속에 존재하는 배경과 사물을 끊임없이 변화게 하는 걸까? 항상 의문을 가지며 공간을 들여다보고 있다.

시대의 역사에 따라 변화해 가는 시공간은 항상 무엇인가가 주체가 되어 변화를 주도해 왔다. 그 주체가 누구인 것이냐에 따라 공간은 끊임없이 변화를 해가고 발전한다.

대한민국 근대를 이끌어 왔던 부산, 6.25전쟁을 중심으로 우리 삶의 중심지였으며 삶과 생의 공간이자 터였다. 그러나 50여 년이 지난 지금 이곳은 이전의 삶의 터이자 생활의 모습은 온데간데없고, 마치 현대판 드라마 세트장의 모습처럼 자연스럽게 변화되어 가고 있다.

공간의 주체가 자본으로 바뀌면서 공간은 삶은 공간이 아닌 소비의 공간으로 변화되어버린다. 자본이 주인이 된 공간은 마치 팔려고 전시해놓은 쇼-윈도처럼 자기를 상품화하고 소비를 유발하고 있다

I have an interest in unfamiliar space. The space have always changed. What cause the changes of the objects and backgrounds in the space? With that in mind, I have always looked into the space.     

 

Throughout the history, there has always been a driving force that initiates the changes. Depending on the main agent, the space has been changing and developing differently. 

Busan has spearheaded the modernization of Korea. Following the Korean War, Busan was the hub of people’s lives as well as the space and base for lives. Five decades later, the image of the space and base for livelihood has gone. It seems that the city has been transformed into a filming site for modern dramas. 

 

With the rise of capital as the driving force in the space, the space is a place for consumption rather than life. In a space, where the capital holds hegemony, everything objectifies itself to be consumed. We are in a huge show window.
